Today I have five new Pure Ice polishes to share with you. Pure Ice is certain these will make a perfect manicure while watching a certain saga and deciding between fang or fur... "The end of the story begins with the bright pale skin (Nude Beach) with blazing red eyes (Glass of Bordeaux). A love story that asks a young girl to risk it all. The diamond ring (Silver Lining) and the garden wedding that changed everything. You can't take your eyes off that unforgettable BLUE dress (Getting Gorgeous) and the warmth and complexity of the wolf's imprint (Alter Ego)."
Getting Gorgeous
A cobalt blue with blue and purple duochrome flakes. The duochrome effect is much stronger in the bottle than on the nail, however it is not completely lost. This is a gorgeous, gorgeous blue that really lives up to its name. It knocked my socks off. It is part of the Metro Chic look of the collection. Probably could have gotten away with two coats for full coverage, but I ended up using three. The formula is very nice and easy to apply. No top coat...
The purple is most visible in the bottle and under the more extreme angles on the nail...
A bit of the purple flakes showing through...

Alter Ego
A coffee brown with gold shimmer and translucent champagne gold/silver flakes. This is also part of the Metro Chic look and is absolutely beautiful. I might have to declare this one a favorite out of all of these. I love the warm brown and the large flakes make it really interesting. Two coats for full coverage, application and formula are great. No top coat in the swatches...
Oh, just look at those flakes, they go so perfectly with the brown...

Glass of Bordeaux
A black jelly base with small red glitter. This is part of the French Trend look and is a nice vampy black. It took three coats to achieve full coverage and get it to properly wrap around the tips. Formula was nice. A bit of dragging with the first coat, but it evened out very nicely. Anyone else picturing this with some red glitter and flames at the tips? Maybe just me. Swatches are with a top coat as the glitter dries a bit gritty...

Nude Beach
A creamy peach with a very subtle shimmer. This is also part of the French Trend look of the collection. The formula is nice and smooth. Two coats for full coverage. It isn't the most flattering color for my skin tone, tends to make my hands look yellow, but I can't hold that against it. With the right skin tone, this is a lovely nude shade. No top coat in the swatches...

Silver Lining (over Glass of Bordeaux)
A clear base with densely packed small silver glitter and a sprinkling of large diamond shaped holographic glitter. The holo effect didn't play well with my camera, but is definitely there in real life. You can see it most clearly in the bottle on these shots. Majority of the diamond shaped glitter sinks to the bottom of the bottle, so it needs a good shake prior to using. The formula is a bit thick, but probably intentionally so in order to suspend the glitter properly. These are with a top coat...

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this new collection and have been picking up quite a few of these whenever I go to wal-mizy. If you haven't already, try layering 'getting gorgeous' over black to really bring out the purple duo-chrome! ~and thanks for writing, i truly enjoy your blog. wendy
ReplyDeleteGetting Gorgeous is definitely on my wishlist!!
ReplyDeleteI bought a few of these last week. Touch Me Softly, Stunning, French Twist and Alter Ego! Alter Ego was definitely my favorite too! The color and the flakes are pure magic!
ReplyDeletePure Ice definitely wowed me with this release. Holy crap, 55 shades! I probably want around half of them. Thankfully for my wallet and unfortunately for me every Walmart I go to has displays that have been picked clean. Oh well, at least I got a few good ones. :)
I was always nervous to try "Pure Ice" but these swatches are GORGEOUS!

@marioshutup, Alter Ego is really something else! Gorgeous from every angle. I have not gone out to look for other colors yet, but hearing how hard they are to find I'm nervous! Definitely want some of the velour ones and more of the Metro Chic ones :)
