OPI Nail Apps Day 7

When I posted my review of the OPI Nail Apps Parisian, I mentioned that I would update every few days to show how they are holding up. That didn't quite happen as planned since there wasn't anything to show. I diligently took photos every days, but unless you interested in seeing how my nails grow (ie the Nail Apps getting further away from the cuticles), there was essentially no change.

This is what the my nails look like this morning, Day 7.
There is the expected growth away from the cuticles...

OPI Pure Lacquer Nail Apps - Parisian

Today I want to show you Parisian, one of the newly released Pure Lacquer Nail Apps from OPI. The Nail Apps are 100% pure nail lacquer. I love how these look and feel. They stretch slightly to contour to the individual nail shape without warping or puckering. Also, since they are 100% pure nail lacquer, they are easily removed with nail polish remover or acetone. Even though removal is so easy, I will be keeping these on for a while. I will try to update every few days on how they are holding up...

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Bling It On for Valentines Day

I wanted to show you the manicure I wore on Valentines Day. To be honest my boyfriend and I have never been big on celebrating the holiday and in the 12 years we've been together, we have never actually gone out on Valentines Day. Although he does usually get me flowers and there was a gorgeous pink orchid waiting for me when I got home from work. With that in mind, I really wasn't planning on doing a themed manicure, but about an hour before having to leave for work, inspirations struck and I had to go with it.

For the manicure I used Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Bling It On which I got from Carolina's giveaway. The Bling It On nail polish strips are composed of sparkly pink and yellow glitter. As always the photos don't capture just how much "bling" these nail polish strips have. The best part of all is that they are really smooth. I've never had such a smooth glitter manicure before. Application was really easy and once again I'm very impressed with these.

For the heart accent I used a heart shaped punch that I got from Michael's for $1 a long, long time ago. I applied the heart cutout using the same technique as the nail polish strips...

For the thumb I applied the polish strip with the heart cut out rather than applying the heart. Interestingly the polish strips are a bit sheer, which is not noticeable when placed over an unpainted nail, but it did darken the color when placed over black polish...

Here is a bit of the aftermath of punching leftover nail strips. Sadly the nail polish strips dry out and are not useable once they are out of package for a while, but they were fun to punch!

The manicure was quite fun and I got lots of comments at work. One lady even asked to touch my nails after I told her they were the nail polish strips. That's definitely a 1st for me...

I should mention that removal of these was a pain in the behind, the same as any dense glitter polish. I guess that's what I get for being lazy and not using the foil method.

I'd love to know what you think! Have you tried anything fun with these strips before?

Thanks for looking!

Sally Hansen Salon Effects - Snow Bunny

My only prior experience with nail strips was that with the nail foils from The Born Pretty store here. They looked nice, but I couldn't stop picking at them and they came off in less than an hour. After that I have been mostly ignoring anything that resembled those nail strips and assuming they were all the same. As luck would have it, I won two packages of Sally Hansen Salon Effects as part of Carolina's amazing giveaway. One of them is this one, named Snow Bunny. Since I needed a break from the dark colors I have been wearing lately and these have such a cute holiday design, I decided to give them a try.

Upon careful inspection of the package, I was surprised to see that these are made with real nail polish and are removed with polish remover. The package came with everything needed to apply them and application itself was really easy. Just peel, stick, and file off the excess. So simple! Although I did manage to end up with a bubble at the tip of the ring finger :(

I did choose to add a topcoat over these which is not part of official directions. It didn't affect the look of the nail strips, but I feel that it made them adhere better and I could wrap the topcoat over the tips as I do with nail polish. These photos are pre-topcoat...

Overall, they were easy to apply, contoured to the nail well and didn't lift or peel as the nail foils. I was not at all tempted to pick at them and more than 24 hours later they still looked great. It was actually kind of sad when I removed them. I would definitely wear these again, especially for a trip where I don't plan on changing my manicure on an almost daily basis.

The package contained 2 blister packs with nail polish strips, a nail file, cuticle stick and detailed instructions. I didn't bother looking at the detailed instructions and the simple ones on the box were enough.

Inside each blister pack are 8 nail polish strips in varying sizes to accommodate different nail sizes. My nails are short enough that theoretically I could have cut these in half and used them for two manicures, but I didn't actually do that. After doing a full manicure, I'm left with 6 nail polish strips... accent nail anyone? :)

Have you tried nail polish strips before? Love them or leave them?

Thanks for looking!
