Tutorial: Leopards Spots

Today I would like to show you a quick and easy tutorial for how to create a leopard spotted manicure. This is a very common technique and I've seen many tutorials on how to create this look, but hopefully one more won't hurt. You can play around with different color combinations from traditional leopard colors to wild and crazy neon ones. I think this always makes for a fun manicure and is easy to create no matter what your skill level is since precision isn't key for this look...

Supplies:

Steps:

Instructions:
  1. Start by painting your nails your nails with an ivory (or your desired) base color. Apply enough coats to reach opacity and allow to dry as usual.
  2. Using a shimmery or glittery gold apply random shaped spots to the nail using the polish brush
  3. With a dotting tool dipped into the purple lacquer, draw 2-3 C-shaped curves around each of the gold spots
  4. Add small purple spots using the dotting tool by drawing little 'commas' in the space between the larger spots.
  5. Top coat and enjoy!
Once you 'master' the larger spots, you can try making smaller spots for a more detailed mani...

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions and as always I would love to know what you think of this!

Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)

Safari Leopard...

Continuing today with manis from the archive is this ivory leopard one that I created after swatching the Color Club Safari Garden collection. Every once in a while I just get the urge to rock some animal print on my nails and this hit the spot. What better collection to create a leopard mani with than a Safari inspired one?! Rawr!

Safari Skittlette...

I realize my post title might be a bit misleading. This manicure really doesn't conjure up images of a safari, but hear me out. I was swatching the beautiful Color Club Safari Garden collection and I kept getting sidetracked on Instagram because I'm addicted to it (ps. come say hi to me @wackylaki). I came across this skittlette manicure and decided to try it out with the Color Club Safari Garden shades I had in front of me, hence the name Safari Skittlette.

I often admire skittlette manicures, but I'm a big chicken when it comes to trying out my own. Semi-copying someone else seemed like good baby steps. I'm not sure how I feel about it though, so tell me what you think...

31DC2013 Day 14 - Flowers

Today I have for you a floral manicure for Day 14 of the 31 Day Nail Challenge. I have had this manicure in head ever since reviewing the OPI Euro Centrale collection, although I didn't get a chance to try it at that time. It has been begging to be brought to reality ever since and I'm so excited to finally be 'forced'/ have an excuse to try it thanks to this challenge...

OPI Euro Centrale Fine China Nail Art...

Playing with the OPI Euro Centrale collection, I couldn't help by want to create a manicure with the ivory and blue shades. I automatically thought of all those beautiful blue and white china patterns for inspiration. My initial thought was to try stamping to replicate some of the more complex patterns and while I will likely do that at some point as well, today I decided on a dotticure of sorts inspired by a plate...

OPI Euro Centrale 2013 Collection - Part 2

Today I have the rest of the OPI Euro Centrale collection to share with you. If you missed the first half of the swatches, you can see them here. Despite some light colors in the mix, this half of the collection strikes me as the darker, moodier half. Of course that is just fine by me since I'll take a dark vampy cream any day of the week or season...

CQ Ivory stamped

Not sure why, but I have been craving yellow polishes. Not the bright neon yellow, but the pastel, baby chick yellow. This sweet polish named Ivory from CQ was just right for the mood. It is sweet and completely wearable on its own, but I stamped it with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Coco a-go-go and Mash plate Mash-44. I edged the nails using Coco a-go-go to give it a more finished look.
