I also entered this manicure in the Nail Polish Canada Nail Art Challenge for this week. It is their last challenge out of three, but the first one I'm entering. I'm kind of late to the game, but better late than never. Please check out all the beautiful entries and vote for your favorite. If that happens to be me, that would be great, but if not that's OK too. Vote for your favorite... :)
I started out the manicure with Barielle Lindsay's Dancin' which is a gorgeous darkened red shimmer from the new holiday Carnival Fiesta collection. If all goes well, I will show you full swatches toward the end of the week. For adding the glitter I used a great Glequin Tutorial from Sammy, The Nailasaurus. She does the most amazing glequin/glitter manicures and doing one myself, I have a whole new appreciation for her patience and perfect glitter placement...
I used green hex glitter for the tree and one piece of gold hex above the tree, but it blended in and is not at all noticeable in photos or in real life. The rest of the nails were covered in a sheer iridescent hex glitter. In the bottle the glitter reminded me of snow, sheer and white. On the nails, it took on a life of it's own with gorgeous gold, green and violet color shifts. Not at all what I expected, but I absolutely love it! I'm tempted to try this little glitter over every polish color now, just to see what it does...
Although I only needed 24 little green glitters for each accent nail, I ended up getting a "tub" of it at Wal-Mart last night. I should mention this 4oz jar was the smallest container they had. There were smaller tubes of glitter, but not the shape/size that I wanted. I pretty certain that I have enough green glitter for the rest of my life. Maybe I should start making nail polish... Anyone interested in clear with lots and lots of green glitter? ;)
That's all for today! I hope you enjoyed this manicure and don't hesitate to let me know what you think of it!
Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)
P.S. Don't forget to check out...

Thank you so much everyone! I'm beyond excited to know that you like it. Yes, this is time consuming, but it was my first time and I got faster with each nail. I would say about 6-10 minutes per nail. In total it took me a little over an hour to do. The tree took the longest to make sure I had it all straight :)
ReplyDeleteMy goodness! You sure get the Patience Prize for this challenge.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous mani.
Great job!
Lisa

ReplyDeleteAysh xoxo
What a great idea to make the tree with the sequins like that!
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard at that container of green glitter! OMG, so funny! Did you get those little glitter pots from Dollar Tree around here? I saw people were finding them, but I could never find them!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I LOVE this mani! And your glitter placement is perfect!
Wow! Perfect glitter placement! Admire the patience!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I have not the patience for this nor would I go to Walmart at midnight! HAHAHA

ReplyDelete@Angie, I did find them around here, but only have seen them in one store and I can't remember which one. It might be the Everett one on Aurora, but not 100% sure. If I see them again, I will let you know...
I just adore the little tree! I don't think I could get them on so perfectly!
ReplyDeleteThat Christmas tree is perfect! I love your glitter placement (:
ReplyDeleteWell the Aurora one is less than a mile from work....will have to stop by tomorrow!
ReplyDelete@Original_Wacky, Thank you so much! It really isn't as bad as it looks... other than facing them all the same way :)
ReplyDelete@lilacsrip, thank you! I'm so glad that you like it :)
@Angie, Good Luck! I hope you find it. I'll be on the look out for it again as well :)
