For this look I started out with Zoya Elisa from the fall Diva collection and allowed it to try. I then added a layer of clear top coat and set a single gold square stud from the Born Pretty Store to accent the point. It doesn't get any easier than that and I really like how clean and classy this turned out...
See, they are sharp...
The gold square studs for this manicure were kindly sent to me for review from the Born Pretty Store. They are two millimeters in diameter and made out of aluminium so they are very light. The are convex (or I suppose concave depending on which side you are looking from) with the outside a shiny gold and the inside a gray base metal. They come packaged in a resealable plastic bag and there is plenty to create lots of manicures.
A closer look at the 2mm studs... and now that I look closely... anyone else notice a typo?
I think these make a fun easy accent to any manicure and I really can't wait to play around with them more in the near future!
I dedicate this manicure to my aunt who loves this blog and is always telling everyone she can about it. She asked me why I never change the shape of my nails and in some way this is my answer to her question. I'm too scared to hurt myself. ;)
P.S. In case you were wondering, I returned my nails back to their original square/squoval shape, but I had to file them down to nubbins to do it. So I'm not very motivated to swatch or do any nail art at the moment even though I have sooo much I want to show you. Luckily, I have some manicures to entertain you while they are growing out and being pampered a bit...
I'd love to know what you think of this. Have you tried studs on the nails before?
Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)

hahah I was totally taken aback from the image in my reader, I was like those are her hands...
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what you mean about nubbins! Mine are super shorties at the moment. Here's to hoping they grow back soon!
I gotta say, I love the studs and the color but not so much the shape... I would take out my eye for sure too!!
ReplyDeletePlease do some nail art on your nubs, some of us have short nails too and would love some inspiration... :))
I'm sure the shape would feel strange and sharp, but I have to say I like the stiletto look on you with shorter nails much better than the talons I've seen! :)
ReplyDeleteActually I am glad to finally see some stiletto nails that are cute! They look great on you, so I guess the secret was to have them on short nails only! It's sad that you had to take them off for your own safety!
ReplyDeleteI have those studs and they can really make a plain mani special!
I could never pull those nails off!! I would be a danger to others and myself. I like the strategic placing if the studs though! Not a mani for me but definitely pretty!
ReplyDeleteOhhh a change in nail shape.. cool haha :) I still prefer the old look but this is a refreshing mani.. looks good with those studs..
ReplyDeleteI used to rock the pointy nails back in high school. I wish I could get away with doing it now, but they just are not practical with a 4 year old to care for. Love the studs, I'll have to get some money in my paypal account some day.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Big like!
ReplyDeleteI know I already said this, but I LOVE the way this looks, and love the studs! Might have to get some!
ReplyDeleteWow! Thank you so much everyone! I certainly did not expect this response to the nail shape. You are almost making me feel bad for filing them down, but I wear contacts and would end up blind with them for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteGuess I should have listened to my aunt and tried different nail shapes... maybe next time I break a corner it will be oval ;)
