31DC2013 Day 20 - Water Marble

Today I would like to show you my water marble manicure for Day 20 of the 31 Day Nail Challenge. I watched and re-watched a bunch of videos by My Simple Little Pleasures in preparation for this since marbling is not my forte. I love all her marbles with Color Club Halo Hues so I decided to try it for myself. Countless hours and wasted polish later, I would like to present you with my manicure...

For this water marble I used Color Club Beyond (black) and Over the Moon (blue) over a white base. This is my first almost successful flower pattern water marble. I say almost successful because I'm not entirely pleased with the way the middle finger turned out, but I got a massive migraine while working on this due to the polish fumes (did I choose the perfect hobby for myself or what?) and had to call it quits. In any case, I wish the flower was more stretched out to match the rest of the nails...

I'm so in love with the Halo Hues... now if I could just convince the folks at Color Club to keep making more colors...

My favorite marble is on the pinkie...

I'd love to know what you think of this!

Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)

  1. This design as great! I wish I could do water marble -_-

  2. This is just gorgeous! I tried my first water marble yesterday. i think I have to practice a couple of years, until mine looks like yours ;-)

  3. This is stunning doll! I love seeing everything you've come up with for this challenge.

  4. Beautiful colours and beautiful water marble manicure! :-)

  5. Wow, so pretty! For a different look add a matte top coat. I also agree, Color Club needs to make more holos especially in dark colors like red, blue and green ^___^

  6. Pure awesomeness, this is so good, mine would never look like this!

  7. I think you did a great job =) The middle finger looks like it may be more of an issue of placement rather than how you drew the flower (I can tell you're closer to the edge because there's no petals in the outer blue). The Halo Hues are some of my favorites to marble with.

  8. I watched Colette's^ videos too, but didn't have the patience to keep starting over. I just went with what I had!

  9. Perfect! Holographic water marbles are the best <3

  10. Another amazing mani. Your flower pattern looks perfect to me, I think you are overly critical of your work. This truly is one of the best water marbles I've seen.

  11. Love the mani!!!! I wish I could do the water marble. Maybe I am finally inspired to try! I got three of the Color Club Holo colors and LOVE them and would love to do this with them! You do so many beautiful mani on your site!

  12. Thank you so much everyone for all your wonderful comments! I'm so glad that you like this water marble! The Halo Hues marbled really well and I definitely want to try them again!

@Colette, you are absolutely right, I think it is placement and not the flower itself. I dipped both the middle and ring fingers together and the ring finger looks good. I would have redone the middle one, but my head was hurting too much :(
Thank you so much for all your inspiring videos! I've watched them so many times :)

@Kitties26, thank you so much! I know I'm critical of myself and I'm trying not to be! Thank you for the encouragement! <3

@Naomi, definitely give it a try! They work really well and look beautiful marbled :)

  13. Gorgeous! I love your middle finger!
And I did not know holo polish would be good for marbling, will keep that in mind :)

  14. I'm sorry for the migraine...But I think the result is amazing :)! Colette is really the master at water marbling!

  15. @Lisa Me, thank you so much! I'm not sure that all holo is good, but these Color Club ones work perfectly! I'll be trying them again soon :)

@Aly MaiSenzaSmalto, Thank you so much! I think Colett is amazing! I watch her videos all the time just to ogle! :D

I love getting comments and reading what you have to say! So don't be shy... comment! :D
