Thermal Stripes

Hi Lovelies! Sometimes I get wonky or should I say wacky ideas for nail art that I must then try out or they give me no rest. This is one of those! While playing with the Polished by KPT Paris & Me collection a while back, I was fascinated by two thermals which are both a gorgeous charcoal gray in their warm state, but completely different when cold. The idea was to combine them into one manicure so that when the nails are warm it appears to be a solid color and then magically reveals a pattern as it gets cold. The result is subtle, but see what you think...

This is one of the transition stages...

The two shades used for this manicure are Polished by KPT Belle Ami (gray to burgundy) and Fall-O-You (gray to green). With the help of striping tape, I created lines of the two shades down my nail.

Turns out in their warm states the two shades are ever so slightly different. From a distance they do appear as a solid gray shade, but on closer inspection, you might notice the stripes...

In transition you can see the colors separate at the tips and fade out into gray toward the cuticles...

In the cold state the full stripes are revealed. The pattern is subtle as the shades are both dark, but if the shades were more contrasting in the cold state it could be a rather stark change!

All together now from cold to warm...

My favorite was definitely the transition and the fun stripy tips effect...

What do you think of this manicure?

Thanks for looking!
