Lint Roller Stamping Cleanup

We all pick up little tips and tricks along the way and I've been wanting to share some of mine with you. I wasn't sure of the best way to do it, so this is a trial run to see how it goes...

This trick involves cleaning your stamper with a lint roller instead of acetone. It isn't my original idea and I honestly have no idea who I picked it up from, but I'm pretty sure it was from someone over in Adventures in Stamping. I credit them for the brilliance of this.

The trick is very simple, once you have stamped your image onto the nail, simply press the remainder of the image that is left on the stamper onto a lint roller. Instantly clean stamper as easy as that and no mess...

If you are using acetone & cotton to clean your stamper then you know it can get a bit messy. Aside from the mess and the risk of smudging the manicure, my biggest frustration was always the darn cotton fibers all over the place. Not only does this work well by leaving the stamper perfectly clean, but no more cotton fibers! I have not used acetone on my stamper in months and have no intentions of ever having the two meet again...

Now my routine is... pick up the image, stamp on the nail, stamp on the roller, move onto the next nail...

If a lint roller is not already part of your stamping arsenal, I suggest you try this out :)

P.S. Let me know if you want to see more tips in the future...

Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)

  9. Thanks for sharing such a great idea! Is that the sticky tape kind where you tear a sheet off when it gets too fuzzy or the silicon type where you wash the fuzzies off?

  11. This is really smart! I always end up with fuzzy cotton strings on my stamper... :-/
You wouldn't happen to have a great tip for cleaning the plate as well? Or do you still use cottong and remover on it?

  13. I use packaging tape rolled into a "donut"; same sort of concept i guess!

  14. I have a different question - where do you get stamping plates that are big enough to cover your nails properly?

  15. I love that trick too, and I also use tape to clean around my cuticles, love it!

  16. I use scotch tape (I keep a length of it stuck to my lamp then replace as needed) but this seem SO MUCH EASIER!!! Now if I could only figure out how to work my XL squishy life would be grand!

  17. I saw scotch tape mentioned in the AiS group to clean the stamper, I've been using that and it works great. This seems much easier though, I'll try it next time I stamp! Thanks for sharing! :)

  19. What a simple, yet genius tip!!! I gotta try that asap! :D So far I've been using a medical hemostat and a cotton pad to clean the stamper and plates, it's convenient, but not as fuzz-free as your method :)

  21. Thank you everyone! I'm so glad that you found this tip useful and I will definitely be posting more in the future! Thank you for your wonderful comments :)

@Inky Whiskers, this is the kind where you tear the sheet off...

@Lisa Me, unfortunately the plates still need to be cleaned with acetone..

@Harriet Lockett, What type of plates have you tried in the past? Most of the standard sets, Bundle Monster, Cheeky, Pueen, etc are too narrow for my thumb. The ones that fit are Cheeky Summer set and Cheeky Jumbo plates available on Amazon. DashicaBeautyShop also has large images... http://www.dashicabeautyshop.nl/c-1068535/big-sdp-image-plates/

@Stacy Plowman-Pennock, are you sure you didn't get a dud stamper? I know there were a lot of them going around on Ebay. I ended up with a few that I had to toss because they didn't stamp at all...

  22. Love this idea! A friend told me to use sticky tape but I think this will be even easier!

  23. I've seen this before but have yet to try it myself. I've only stamped like 3 times in my life. Haha. But my question is what do you do with the leftover polish still on the plate itself? Do you still use cotton and acetone? This is a pain as well!

  24. @Bookish Manicurist, definitely give this a try. You can also tear a sheet off and tape it to your work surface if you don't want to deal with the roller...

@Colleen, yes the plates still need to be cleaned with acetone. I wish there was a mess free way to do it, but I have not found it yet :)
