I initially tried to sponge the two colors to create a smooth gradient, but in doing so I found that the sponge soaked up all the color and left me with just gold flecks on the nail. Really pretty, but what I had in mind. This has happened to me before, but it doesn't seem that I learned my lesson. So back to square one it was..
I decided to just brush on a gradient. It doesn't create a smooth effect, but close enough with speck filled shades as these. To create the gradient, I started out with a base of Glam Polish Divine Cosmos. Then using Infinite Wisdom (makes me sound a bit pretentious doesn't it?), I brushed on the green in very light strokes onto about 2/3rd of my nails. The trick is to wipe the brush almost completely dry and add just a bit of color at a time in multiple layers...
For the stamping, I used Maybelline Bold Gold (70). The pattern on the index and middle fingers are from Mash plate Mash-57. I purchased this plate set a while ago, but am just now getting around to playing with it. It stamps perfectly by the way. The peacock on my ring finger is from Bundle Monster plate BM-015. I have been trying to stamp this peacock from the very first Bundle Monster set, plate BM15 with all my might and have given up. I must have a bad plate because I can't get the tail to transfer no matter what I try. So I'm thrilled that the image on the revised set (BM-015) stamps so perfectly! I tell you, it's the little things in life that make me happy...
The rhinestones on my pinkie nail are from Born Pretty Store...
Here is a look at the gradient before the stamping. You can see that it isn't smooth...
... especially at the more extreme angles when Divine Cosmos shifts to purple and the two colors aren't as closely matched...
A bit different lighting to bring out the holo shimmer. Oh how I love holo shimmer!
Until next time! Thanks for looking!

I love it! This is perfect <3
ReplyDeleteAnd regarding your question, I don't really have a particular moment to look at blogs, as soon as I have a little break in my day, I read them :) (it's 5 p.m. here ;))
Xxx
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the manicure.
DeleteAnd wow, we've got quite a time difference, I posted it 7am my time. Maybe I should try posting even earlier since most people are way ahead of me :)
Wow! What a fancy and elegant nail design! I love it~
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I'm so glad you like this design :)
DeleteAnutka, I think your gradient is quite smooth, or at least it looks that way in your photos! Way better than mine ever are, ha, ha. ;) By the way, I check the various nail polish blogs I follow several times in a day -- whenever I have a little moment and need a quickie inspiration or break.
ReplyDeleteI was also surprised how well it turned out using just the nail polish brush. Sponging it on definitely didn't work :)
DeleteAnd thank you for answering my question. I'm the same way when it comes to blogs, no set time to look at them (although wouldn't that be nice?) :D
This is beautiful! Every time I see Glam polishes I want to try them seeing that holo sure doesn't make it easy lol! I know what you mean about the cosmetic sponge eating polishes the problem is you really can't tell which polishes that will happen to until you try it :( I think everything came out beautifully despite that :)
ReplyDeleteNo, you really don't know until you try it. Also with the gold glass fleck ones I've been burned every time. I think because the sponge can't absorb them they just take over. I should just stop trying, but I'm not a quick learner I guess. LOL. And yes, Glam Polish shades are so tempting. I had to check them all out too and now have too many on my wish list :)
DeleteThis is a SUPER cool design!! The gradient you did looks perfect!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I'm glad the gradient turned out so well. I figured even if it didn't I'd hide it with stamping. LOL :)
DeleteThis is SO beautiful, wow! I love that peacock, and these Glam polishes are just amazing <3
ReplyDeleteI'm swooning over these Glam Polish lacquers as well! And I'm so glad that you like the peacock. These colors worked so perfectly for it :)
DeleteThis looks absolutely gorgeous! As usual! I love your gradient and the stamping looks just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a specific time to visit the blogs. I normally open like 15 tabs on my browser and everytime I have a break, I check them out. Most of the time I don't manage to visit all the ones I open, but I try to... lol
It's currently 1:15 PM here. :-D
Have a great Friday dear! :*
Thank you so much for your sweet comments! I'm so glad you like the manicure :)
DeleteYou are a girl after my own heart. I always have at least 15 tabs open until my computer can't handle any more and I have to shut them down. LOL. I wish I had more time to look at blogs than I do. Maybe some day I'll take a week off and catch up hehe
