31DC2013 Day 25 - Inspired by Fashion

Shame on me. I just resumed the 31 Day Challenge and here I am 2 (+365?) days behind already. Have no fear though, I'm still determined to catch up or at the very least complete the rest of the challenges. Day 25 is possibly one of my favorites with a challenge to create a fashion inspired manicure. I have drawn inspiration from fashion many times and lately in particular I'm drawn to shoes. This pair of shoes has been in my 'inspiration' folder for quite some time and this was the perfect opportunity to bring it to life...

For the manicure I used two OPI beauties, the silver My Signature is "DC" and light blue Dining Al Frisco plus black acrylic paint for the detailing. To create the look, I started out with the silver base and using a dotting tool created random blobs (for the lack of a better word) of blue on my nails. Then I dotted around each blob with acrylic paint....

The manicure actually ended up being quicker than I expected. The most time consuming part as you can imagine were the little black dots, for which by the way I used a mechanical pencil as my makeshift "dotting tool".

This light blue is the closest polish color in my collection to match the inspiration shoes. It is similar, but not exactly the same as my inspiration which can only mean one thing... I need more polish because I love the denim blue of those shoes...
