OPI So So Skullicious Mini Set with Decals

Today I have a really fun OPI So So Skullicious set to show you. It comes with four mini nail lacquers and some fun skull decals which are perfect for Halloween. Believe it or not, this was my first time using nail decals and I love them. They are really easy to apply and a great way to add something special to a manicure. I ended up with a fun skittle manicure that I hope you'll enjoy...

Usually I shy away from skittle manicures because even though I love them on other people, I can't quite get used to them for myself. Surprisingly this flows so well together that I really love it. Luckily the decals have similar colors and patterns which pulls everything together. All the nails except the middle finger have decals from the set. For the middle finger I sponged it slightly with Mourning Glory (black lacquer from the set)...

Here is a prime example of what happens when you get too excited with the nail decals. The little green skull was initially meant to go on my index finger, but I forgot to remove the plastic off the decal before placing it in water. Such a simple thing, but I got too eager to try them! The decal neatly lifted off the transfer paper and onto the plastic. There was no removing it from there. Now I have a little souvenir of what not to do...

The OPI So So Skullicious set contains four mini polishes:
Index Finger: Hi, Pumpkin! - 2 coats + top coat
Middle Finger: A-Rose from the Dead - 2 coats + top coat
Ring Finger: Candlelight - 3 coats + top coat
Pinkie Finger: Mourning Glory - 2 coats + top coat

The formula on all of these is lovely, only Candlelight needed three coats, the rest were opaque in two. The yellow and orange would be perfect for candy corn nails! I can picture them already...

Have you started getting into the Halloween spirit yet? Planning any fun manicures? :)

Thanks for looking!

  1. How totally adorable! I love how colourful and festive this skittle design is, but it's still totally cohesive too, not "busy" at all. These little stickers are exactly why I've had my eye on this set, and I've been hoping someone would show them. Thanks! ♥

  3. This set is so stinking cute - but I will be so sad when I used up the stickers! The yellow I won't ever wear again but in maybe a skittle. Love the way you put yours together here and am going to recreate it...what? No copy cats? Sorry I need something to more than just inspire - I have to look at something I am so not creative!

  4. @Elizabeth, I'm so glad I was able to show you the ones you. They are all so cute and go well together.

@Laura, thank you so much! :)

@Nailderella, it is really a fun set and perfect for Halloween. I think OPI just nailed this one :)

@The Polish Rainbow, I'm so glad you like it! Thank you :)

@beachgal, LOL! You are more than welcome to copy this look. You have my permission. If yellow is a hard color for you to wear, you could always skittle as you said or use it as part of a design. I'll be sad too when the decals are gone, they are so cute :)

  5. How did you do the decals? I can't figure it out!

  6. @Anonymous, I followed the instructions in the packet. They are:
    1. Allow the polish to completely dry
    2. Remove the clear plastic protective cover from the decals
    3. Cut out the decal that you want to use
    4. Dip into warm water for 10 seconds (helps to use tweezers to grab the corner and dip into water)
    5. Wet the surface of the nail and slide the decal from the paper onto the nail.
    6. Gently dry with a tissue
    7. add a top coat as usual

I found it helpful to put my nail in the warm water as I was holding the decal in there. When the decal was ready to slide I lifted both the nail and the decal slightly out of the water and slid it from the paper onto the nail. When your nail is still wet you can side the decal around a bit on the nail to get it into the right position.

I hope this helps! Good Luck :)

  7. Oh these are so cute! I see what you mean, the recurring colours in the decals just pulls the whole mani together. It looks great! Now I want this set so much! x

  9. Thanks for the swatches (are they fairly close to real life representations of the colors, in your opinion?)! I'm really thinking about ordering this set... Candlelight looks like the perfect yellow without being too pastel for me. Hi, Pumpkin! also seems like an orange that's not too in-your-face. (And of course, who couldn't use an extra pink or black cream?)

Love the skull on your index finger and the sponging over A-Rose From the Dead! This mani turned out really well.

  11. @Jacee, Thank you! I try to make sure the swatches are true to life and they do appear to be so on my monitor. Hopefully it is the same on yours. The colors are really lovely and definitely not too pastel...

@Cathy Sharp, They will make for some fun Halloween manicures for sure! Enjoy! :)

@sheryl42, The thumb was yellow with a bit of black sponging to match the pink one. It only rarely makes an appearance on my blog (as does my right hand). Sorry :)
