Red Velvet Damask

Hello Lovelies!

I'm back with one more post featuring a lacquer from the Glam Polish Coven collection. It was largely inspired by this manicure created by Debbie of @ladyandthe_stamp on Instagram. She mattified one of the beautiful Coven shades and I instantly knew I wanted to try to do that as well. To be honest, I would not have even thought to mattify these shades since the flakies loose all their holo goodness, but the gorgeous velvet look and feel really made up for it.

To create this manicure, I used the following:

Base polish: Glam Polish Katrina Van Tassel
Stamping plate: BP-L016 from Born Pretty Store
Stamping polish & edging of tips: Essie Good as Gold
Matte top coat: Essie Matte About You

Coincidentally, I noticed this same pattern on two stamping plates that I got in the mail this past weekend. Moyra Plate 11 (Damask Drapery) and JQ-L12 plate from AliExpress. There is some slight variation between the different plates in the size and spacing of the diamonds as you can see in the scans below. I love the sizing of the Moyra plate, but the spacing of diamonds seems slightly off and bugs me. It was probably a good thing I only had the Born Pretty Store plate when creating the manicure so I didn't have to choose between them.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else ever 'pet' their matte nails? They are so soft to the touch, I just can't resist touching them all day. It's quite distracting...

I'd love to know what you think of this manicure!

Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)

  4. Your design / mani is gorgeous! Excellent choice of polishes and stamp. I like that stamp - it is like the Cinderella one. Of the three, one had the diamonds too close, one had them too far. The BP was perfect. Love that slip of gold on the tips, frames them perfectly, and the mani would not feel as 'finished' without it. I also love the feel of matte nails. I sometimes want to coat larger (permanent) desk objects in matte polish to see if it will stick so I will have it to pet!

    1. Oooh! I love the Cinderella analogy! It fits here perfect as it truly was a matter of this one isn't quite right, neither is this one, but the third is just perfect. LOL. I'm so glad you like the final look. The sliver of gold at the tips completed the look for me as well. It didn't feel right to just have the pattern cut off. Here's to all those who pet their matte manis! :)

    1. Thank you very much! I just had to copy & try mattifying these flakes and result didn't disappoint. I'm glad you like the sliver of gold at the tips, it just completed the pattern for me so it didn't feel cut off.
