For the manicure I used a base of El Corazon Rainbow 756 layered over OPI Miss You-niverse. On it's own Rainbow 756 is very sheer which made it perfect for layering over the dark OPI shade. I stamped the pattern from CICI&SISI plate 02, using Wet 'n Wild Black Creme. For the "nailheads" in my tufted pattern, I used gold bullion beads that I purchased at the dollar store...
I'm not completed pleased with how this CICI&SISI plate stamped. As you can see, I wasn't able to pick up the complete image. It doesn't bother me for this look, but I'm hoping the rest of the images in the stamping plate set will perform better for me. Once I play around with them some more, I'll post my full review of the plates...
El Corazon Rainbow 756
A sheer base with a duochrome green/gold and scattered holo shimmer. It is very sheer on it's own at one coat. Shown here are 4 coats (no top coat) and the nail line is still slightly visible. Thanks in part to the strong gold shimmer the nail line is not very obvious. Although it can be worn on it's own, I think it looks beautiful layered over other shades, both light and dark, to add a golden and holo shimmer. The holo is best seen at the more extreme angles, when looking down the nails rather than straight at them...
El Corazon Rainbow 756 (over OPI Miss You-niverse)
Layering over a dark shade really brings out the greenish golden and holographic shimmer...
You can see a bit of the color change here and how the holo shows up more when looking at the nails at a steeper angle...
Holo!...

I love Rainbow 756! Don't think I could do 4 coats of it, but I think it would look gorgeous layered over something like OPI My Vampire is Buff. It does look great over Miss You-niverse though!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of layering over MViB. I do like the honey nude color of the polish in it's original state so I think it will be great to keep that color, but not have to build up so many coats! I'm glad you like it over dark shades too :)
DeleteGorgeous stamping as usual! I wouldn't wear it by itself but it definitely looks awesome layered over black.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day and a wonderful week dear! ;-)
Thank you so much Giovanna!
DeleteI'm so glad you like this polish and my manicure.
I hope you are having a wonderful week also :)
Wow the stamping looks beautiful! I'm just now starting to really get into nails and your blog is really inspiring. Loving this manicure! Your nails look perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Krystal! That really means a lot to me :)
DeleteI'm so glad you are enjoying my blog and manicures! <3
I love the stamping, it's so neat! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Tanja! I'm a stampaholic for sure :)
DeleteVery elegant manicure. I am impressed with how pretty El Corazon Rainbow 756 is layered over the darker polish.
ReplyDeleteI like the little sliver of base coat that shows through inside the edge of each *leaf* of the stamp pattern. I do see that the pattern is not evenly consistent. I don't have any stamping plates but I understand there are quite a few different companies that make them. Are there some really well made and some not so much? Do some companies make the patterns nice and crisp, well incised, and others that don't? I do love to see the beautiful stamping you do, combined with your creative use of the polishes in the design. Makes me want to get stamping! I am really hesitant, however, to invest money in that area. I have yet to do a simple dotticure that looks okay - I can only imagine how any stamping would go! I've been a nail polish addict going on five months now and I suppose I will eventually dip my toes in those waters, but right now I will content myself with the happiness I get from at least being able to do a nail polish job nicely. But I will be ooh-ing and aah-ing over the beautiful nailart designs I see here!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like this manicure! I think just for that little sliver in each leaf, I'm not too irritated with the pattern. I do like how it turned out. For majority of things however, I want the whole pattern as intended to transfer. There are definitely difference in plates between manufacturers, but also a difference in stampers and the way you scrape the plate. I've seen people stamp perfectly with this plate set so I just need to figure out if it is something I'm doing wrong or if my plates are not etched properly.
DeleteDon't hesitate to start stamping! You can get started relatively inexpensively. I got started with a single plate and stamper from the bornprettystore. There is also a Salon Express kit that sells in a lot of drugstores in the US (I'm not sure where you are from) for <$10. It includes 5 plates and a stamper. You can use a lot of regular polishes for stamping! :)
I LOVE this! Sorry you had trouble with the stamping, but your mani looks amazing anyway. Adding the beads was genius!
