Before I get into the swatches, let me apologize for the redness. For some reason blogger insists on 'enhancing' the photos from my original, even though I have turned this feature off. I am working on resolving this issue and hope to have it fixed soon. At this point I'm not even sure if I'm the only one seeing the redness. Please let me know if the skin color looks too red for you. OK, now on to the swatches...
My Favorite Ornament
Champagne gold glitter flakes in a clear base. It spreads easily and evenly, however, when applying it feels somewhat gritty. Three coats provides great coverage as seen here. It looses shine as it dries and needs a good layer or two of top coat. It is rather top coat hungry and seems to soak it all up quickly. I paired this with a few stamped ornaments for some fun nail art last month...

All I Want for Christmas (is OPI )
A maroon red crelly (cream +jelly). I will refrain from commenting on the formula because my bottle has a chipped neck and the polish was about 1/4 dried out when I got it. I reconstituted it with polish thinner and it applied easily, however, I don't know what the original formula is like. Two coats for full coverage. Swatches are with a top coat...

Cute Little Vixen
A shimmery plum violet shade. This has a wonderful formula that goes on smoothly. Slightly visible brushstrokes, but that is typical for shimmery finishes. Two coats provides full, opaque coverage. It has a beautiful shine on it's own, so no top coat in the swatches...

Underneath the Mistletoe
A deep wine jelly with silver and red micro glitter. This is such a gorgeous shade and possibly my favorite out of these. It applies easily with no dragging or balding. Two coats provides full coverage. It dries gritty and is surprisingly top coat demanding. I used two layers of top coat to get it smooth and shiny...
This polish has really beautiful depth and is very sparkly...

In My Santa Suit
A bright metallic shimmery red. This is certainly a holiday classic shade. It has an easy to apply formula and is fully opaque at two coats. Faint brushstrokes are visible due to the shimmer, but again this is typical for such a finish. I skipped the top coat for the swatches since it has it's own wonderful shine. I used this shade last month for this holiday manicure...

Visions of Love
A deep burgundy crelly. It is very vampy and beautiful. I love such dark shades in the fall and winter. I found that it needed very light application to avoid bald spots. It is fully opaque at two coats. The jelly aspect of the formula gives it a nice glossy finish. Swatches are with no top coat...

Great swatches! And your skin color doesn't look too red on my screen :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! It looks much better now. There is some strange auto enhance feature on Google+ that has been messing them up. When I wrote the post last night they looked red, but once it was live on the blog they seem to look OK. Very strange!
Deletewow such gorgeous colours , love the sparkly one :)

Thank you so much! That seems to be a favorite of everyone! Love it :)
DeleteGorgeous swatches! I found that three of the glitters are topcoat hungry.
ReplyDeleteYour skintone looks okay to me. Blogger does the same thing to my pictures. I didn't know you can turn off the function..... Great news!
Thank you very much! Yes, I found them topcoat hungry as well. They almost seem to turn matte on their own. I was a bit tempted to leave them sans top coat :)
DeleteYour nails are so amazing!
