If you are familiar with Sally Hansen, OPI or Incoco nail strips, these apply much the same way. In a nutshell, you just peel a clear film then peel the strip from the backing, stick it on your nail and file off the excess. Unlike some nail strips, these do need a top coat after you apply them. The result is beautiful nail art with minimal effort. The full application instructions are on the back of the package and you can also see them on the OMG Nail Polish website...
As far as nail strips go, these seemed thinner than others that I have tried. They stretched easily without being fragile and breaking and contoured to the nail very well. After filing I didn't get a stark cut looking edge which was a very pleasant surprise. I'm not sure if this is because of how thin they are or something else, but I am definitely happy!
The instructions on the website (not the package) said to run a cotton ball soaked with acetone over the strips after applying them to melt down the edges. I started with this on the index finger and after melting away a bit of the nail strip at the tip, I decided to skip this step. In any case, this is an optional step and I don't think it affected the look of them...
The nail strips come in a package of 14. They are 29mm in length so great even for longer nails. The width is anywhere from 10-17.5mm to let you choose the right fit. You can easily cut wider strips down to fit narrower nails. They are not double ended, but if you wanted to cut a single strip in half to use on two nails, you could also trim the other end to a curve.
Unlike other nail polish strips, these are not sealed in airtight packaging which makes me wonder if they are made of nail polish or something else. They did easily remove with just acetone, so no damage to the nail. Real nail polish or not is not that important to me as long as they apply easily, look good and remove with acetone to avoid damaging the nails. The fact that they are not airtight sealed hopefully means that I can keep the few strips I have left over for accent nails in the future...
I wish I could comment on the lasting wear of these, but as with most manicures, I remove them after a day or two. I wore them as you see here for a day and then added a little something that I'll show you soon ;)

Thanks for sharing! The flexibility is always important to me and it sounds like they were pretty easy to apply; may just have to try these out!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! These look like actually snake skin, were they textured? They look like they would have a rough feel to them like snake skin! Anyway, I love them! I'm a sucker for animal prints :)
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing "sherlock" as we speak. I'm kinda glad to hear that these are similar to other nail strips, cause I love that these are so stretchy for my curvy nails! I found them much easier to use than the NCLA ones. You make these look flawless!
ReplyDeleteYou don't by any chance know if they ship internationally do you? I tried to find the info on the website, but couldn't.

pretty stripes :)
ReplyDeleteI just put my first OMG strips on Sunday and I love them! Very easy and they haven't chipped yet.
ReplyDelete@Stephanie, yes, these are quite flexible. Actually some of the most flexible I have tried so far. :)
ReplyDelete@Kelly, they are completely smooth, but the pattern is so amazing they do look 3d. I'm so glad you like them! I'm crazy for animal print too :)
@Angie, I'm so glad to hear these worked for your curved nails. Mine are so flat I always worry about reviewing the sketchiness. Yes, these were easier than NCLA and love that you can remove them with acetone!
@Mari, Sorry for the late response. I'm not sure if they ship internationally. I have emailed the PR contact I have a few days ago and hopefully will hear back soon!!
@maRyya, thank you so much!
@Jill, Yay! I didn't get to test out the wear on these, but I'm glad to know they do last! They are so fun :)
