The polish is a jelly so I decided to make a glitter sandwich with it. I started out with two coats of BHG Beautiful followed by one thick coat of Essie Set in Stones and one more coat of BHG Beautiful. The whole thing was topped off with a top coat for shine. I just love the depth of glitter sandwiches. This one makes me think of a sangria with berries beneath the surface. Yum...
A closer look at the glitter...
A peek at what it looked like before the final coat of BHG Beautiful. Essie Set in Stones is a silver glitter in a clear base. It usually applies much thinner and would need a few coats to build up to this much glitter, but I was feeling lazy so this is one thick, messy coat of the Set in Stones with no top coat. I wanted to make sure I had plenty of glitter for the sandwich...
Taking apart the sandwich even further, BHG Beautiful itself is a deep wine jelly. I'm not sure if this is just a relabel of one of their standard polishes, but I wouldn't be surprised. Application was good and it covered well in two coats. The formula is shiny enough that the swatches here are without a top coat. Looking at the photos I see some bald spots toward the cuticles which were not visible in real life, but since I was layering over it, this didn't really matter...

I would love to know what you think of this!
Have you ever gotten a fun surprise in the mail before?
Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)
This is gorgeous! I didn't even know it was set in stones at first!
ReplyDeleteWow that glitter sandwich is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat is completely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI win also. I was totally confused as to why I was getting a small box from Essie. Mine to have a note it in. It said something like I hope you enjoy your prize Essie. I looked at the name of the color and remembered last fall. I think they may have ran out of those notes or forgot to put it in your box. I think some other magazines had a special Essie shade giveaway also.
ReplyDeleteAre you still doing Giveaway Land blog? It's on my Google Reader but I noticed there haven't been any updates since March.
This is a delicious sandwich for sure!
ReplyDeleteSuper Gorgeous!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous glitter sandwich :)
ReplyDeleteI liked this with the set in stones jellied in-it really softened and made the look that much cooler!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad you all like the glitter sandwich. It is a bit hard to see in the photos, looks better in real life :)
ReplyDelete@Melody, I guess my box just missed the note. :)
I stopped keeping up with GiveawayLand. It was very time consuming and not a lot of people interested in it. I might start it up again at some point, but right now I don't have time. Sorry :(
Very cool! Kinda reminds me of a layering with Barielle Elle's Spell.
ReplyDeleteCan you recommend some nice polishes that work well for this jelly look?
ReplyDelete@Janelle, I was thinking the same thing as I was looking through the recent posts! :)
ReplyDelete@Angelarenesharp, any jelly polish should work for a sandwich look like this. Is there a certain color or brand you are looking so I can help?
Oooh, the sandwhich looks so interesting. ^^
ReplyDeletethank you so much! :)
ReplyDeleteOh what a yummy jelly sandwich... it turned out so perfectly with the surprise glitter poking through!
ReplyDeleteSo much dimension.
I have never seen a deep jelly polish like this one before! Lovely
@Marta, it is funny, but I have nothing but these deep jellies. I need some lighter ones to do more glitter sandwiches :)
ReplyDeleteThe jelly itself reminds me strongly of Essie's Bordeaux.
