Even though I managed to stay away from the computer, I couldn't stay away from nail polish. After dinner my cousin came over and asked if I would replicate my recent storks manicure for her. It is fun to create manicures like this, so I was happy to oblige. I am quite pleased with how it turned out and I think she was too. Here is the result...
At IKEA, I ended up getting a full-sized dresser to use for nail polish. I initially intended to get a second Helmer since my current one is overflowing, but I saw this dresser in the "as is" section and just couldn't help myself. It was floor model, in great shape, and only $45. That's only $5 more than the Helmer I was going to buy and fits 2x as much. Plus, it was already put together, ready to go and it looks great. I also love that it has drawer slides to keep the drawers in place unlike a Helmer. The only downside is that it is so big, but oh well... :D
And this is just random and unrelated to the day I had, but I stopped by Grocery Outlet on my way home from work yesterday and got some Sally Hansen Nail Prisms for $5.99 for a pack of 5. This set looks similar to what I have seen at Ross before. This particular set contains (left to right) Blush Diamond, Diamond, Fire Opal, Blush Diamond, South Sea Pearl. There are two polishes named Blush Diamond, but they definitely don't look the same. Not sure what to say about that. Also, I already have a bottle of Diamond in my collection from a giveway that I won from nailXchange a while back. This "new" Diamond is lighter and a lot less holo...
Long story short, if I you like Nail Prisms and live along the West Coast with a Grocery Outlet nearby, you might want to check them out. Mine had at least 20 packages on display. Not all of them the same, but they only differed from each other in one polish or two polishes so I just stuck with this one...
What do you accomplish when the computer is off?
Hope you are all having a good week :D
Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)
Pretty!
ReplyDeleteI usually try to take at least one day off a week from the internet, no facebook, no twitter, no nothin'. It's good for the soul ;). I love the nails you did for your cousin, I bet she loves them! I am seriously jealous of your new dresser, that's really nice. I don't even have enough polish to fill up one helmer yet lol
ReplyDeleteI would love to see pics of your entire collection!
ReplyDeleteThe rain this morning in my hometown made my parents and I team up for the kitchen spring cleaning.
ReplyDeleteMy mother's mani survived it, which is great!
Your cranes look even more elegant the second time around. Great job! I really love that mani - the colors are so classic.
ReplyDeletei love the helmet i need to get something like this but smalles for my polishes!
ReplyDeleteThis is breath taking!x
ReplyDelete@Bethany, thank you! :)
ReplyDelete@Amber, I'm going to start doing that too. Just shut off the computer on my days off and not think about it. I'm so glad you like the manicure. My cousin loved it too. When I first got the Helmer I never imagined filling it up... now it doesn't fit anymore. They polishes have a way of multiplying :)
@Christina, I will work on organazing it into new storage and definitely show the collection :)
@marox, I have been doing spring cleaning too. Gloves are my friend for saving the mani :)
@Iroshi, They say practice makes perfect. They got better looking with each finger :)
@Naty, The Helmer is much smaller than what I got. It has some flaws, but works well for storing polish :)
@Outer glow, thank you so much :)
Wow! This is like art on the canvas of your nails!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
I would probably croak ;) if my computer/ my iphone was to shut down!
@Marta, thank you! My cousin's nails made a lovely canvas :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the computer, I thought so too, but it was really nice to get away :)
You're so lucky to be so talented and artistic, Anutka. That stork mani looks like it came straight from a painting. Btw, that IKEA shelf looks like a Malm (or I could be wrong). I have a Malm shelf too, just half/two-thirds the width. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I followed a tutorial with this one, so it was easier than it looks.. :)
ReplyDeleteThe dresser is a Kullen, not nearly as nice as the Malm series, but good enough for my polishes :)
What caused the computer to break down? It is possible that it was improperly shut down, or you may have installed something on it. Anyway, it is a good thing to have a friend that knows how to fix computers. Otherwise, you would have had to take it in for repairs, and sometimes, that would mean it would take a lot of time before it can get fixed and delivered back to you. Anyway, did your friend tell you the problem of your computer?
ReplyDelete@Benita, thank you for your concern. The computer is fixed now. Just old parts needing to be replaced :)
