For the base of the manicure I used Essence Miss Universe and stamped over it with Essence A Piece of Forever using Gals plate GA26. All the dots were also added using A Piece of Forever. Wasn't quite sure what I was going for, but I kind of like the end result...
I think it reminds me of some sort of animal print... dart frog maybe?
Essence Miss Universe is a black jelly base with a strong teal shimmer. This shade is absolutely gorgeous and a must for anyone who loves dark, mysterious polishes. Application was good if applied in thin coats. Thicker coats tended to drag. I applied two coats for this manicure, but probably should have done three because I can see through some of the black jelly spots, especially in the photos...
The only thing that drives me nuts about this polish is that "new" sticker on the lid. It is really a pet peeve of mine since the sticker always outlasts the newness of the polish... It is surpassed only by "new and improved" stickers on products. To improve something there had to have been a first version and if there was a first version then it is not new... so how can you have something that is both new and improved at the same time? OK, I digress, but really... just think about it...
You can see the beautiful blue/green shimmer in the closeup. At the same time you can also see that the jelly formula didn't quite cover the tips at two coats...

I love the way this mani turned out. I quote like the design you came up with! And I'm kinda sad I didn't pick up that gold Twilight polish now! Looks like it stamps well!
ReplyDeleteLove the dots
ReplyDeletegreat manicure
ReplyDeleteI've just bought this polish today, and I absolutely love the color. The sheerness is however a bit of a downer, for me (since essence usually bubbles in thicker or multiple coats, for me)... so I used I medium coat over black creme and the polish looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous mani! I used essence Miss Universe for my stamp & dot mani as well but my second color was silver :D
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love this one, think I might try it for a wedding I'm attending this weekend. (~.~)
ReplyDelete"New and Improved" is propaganda speak for "We now use cheaper ingredients."
ReplyDelete@Angie, thank you so much! I'm a bit sad I only picked up one bottle... I've been using it as my go to gold now...
ReplyDelete@Norma G, thank you :)
@Tina, thank you :)
@Eva, Yes, it didn't react well to thick coats. It did OK with two thinner ones, but layering over black is an excellent idea for next time! :)
@Chester, What a wonderful coincidence! Your manicure is so cute :)
@Tina, thank you so much! :)
@Debby, I would love to see the result if you try it! Should be fun and bold for a wedding :)
@KD, they are always finding a way to put a positive spin on giving us less/worse... :)
