Nicole by OPI Texture Coats for Spring 2012

I'm back today with more swatches of Nicole by OPI Spring releases that are set to hit stores in April. In addition to the four Target exclusive polishes and the six new Kardashian Kolor polishes, Nicole by OPI is releasing four texture coats to add to their existing line. These are a little different from standard crackle polishes and appear to be a cross between an effect top coat and a crackle...

Opal Texture (over Nicole by OPI That's Totally Red-ical)
A fine purple shimmer suspended in a milky base. It produced a few large cracks and added a beautiful purple glow to the base polish. Swatches are over That's Totally Red-ical. If I had to choose, Opal Texture is my favorite texture among these and you will see why if you keep scrolling down...

Opal Texture (over black)
The true potential of Opal Texture is seen over a dark polish. As I mentioned, this is not just a texture coat, but also an effect coat. Take a look at the beautiful purple duochrome effect that results from layering it over a jet black polish...

Amethyst Texture (over Nicole by OPI Up & Kim-ing Pink)
A small purple glitter in a slightly tinted base. Because the glitter is not very dense, it is difficult to see where it actually cracked. Certainly not the typical full coverage crackle that we are used to, but a lovely alternative to add something interesting. Layered here over Up & Kim-ing Pink...

Aquamarine Texture (over Nicole by OPI Kim Konfidential)
A small blue glitter in a clear base. I layered it over the beige Kim Konfidential for a lovely effect. Similar to Amethyst texture this glitter is sparse making it difficult to see the crackle effect. I am still a fan of the glitter potential in this. This color combination reminds me of something, but I can't quite pin it down at the moment...

Quartz Texture (over Nicole by OPI Others Pale by Kim-Parison)
A metallic gray with a hint of lavender. Sadly this one didn't crackle very well for me, producing only a few large cracks. Aside from the cracking issues, the color is gorgeous so I will have to play around more to see if I can get it to crack properly. Paired up here with Others Pale by Kim-Parison...

  4. Try applying diagonally sometimes that helps the cracking.
