My challenge for today was 2-fold, to swatch a gorgeous newly released lacquer named Eyre and to create nail art using Nail Vinyls and the creamy shades Marine and Mad Magenta. I had quite a bit of fun with this challenge so buckle up for a long post!
Let's start out with my swatches and review of Erye...
Eyre
A beautiful metallic blue with scattered holographic shimmer flecks. It has a great formula which is easy to work with. I got full coverage at three thin coats and it dried impressively quickly considering the number of coats used. I absolutely love this shade of blue and I took the opportunity to wear it for a couple of days and received lots of compliments in the process. Swatches here are with no top coat...

As I already mentioned, part 2 of Blog Fest is a challenge. The challenge is to create nail art with two shades and Nail Vinyls chosen by the girls of piCture pOlish. I was only supposed to show off one look, but I created two and seriously couldn't decide which one to feature. Since my boyfriend was not much help in the matter, I decided to be a rebel and show them both. I figured I would show them both eventually so I might as well do it today...
The first look is a zig zag and parallelogram (getting fancy, I know!) combo created using Mad Magenta and Marine plus the mini-chevron Nail Vinyls...
A quick step by step tutorial on how I created this look...
- Start out with a base of your first color, shown here is piCture pOlish Marine.
- Allow the polish to completely dry before proceeding to step #2. A quick dry top coat really helps speed up the process. - Apply the mini-chevron Nail Vinyls as shown below. You can align the two strips point to point to create diamond shapes or slightly off point to create the parallelograms as I have done.
- Apply the second polish one half of each nail including the parallelograms. Shown here using piCture pOlish Mad Magenta
- Quickly remove the Nail Vinyls before the polish starts to dry. For best results perform steps 3 and 4 on each nail individually rather than all nails at once
- Clean up the cuticles (as you can see I made quite a mess), add a top coat and enjoy!
Look number 2 is a bit more abstract and I love it for that. Once again this was created using only Marine, Mad Magenta and the mini-chevron Nail Vinyls...
Another quick step by step tutorial on how I created this look...
- Start out with a base of your first color, shown here is piCture pOlish Mad Magenta.
- Allow the polish to completely dry before proceeding to step #2. A quick dry top coat really helps speed up the process. - Apply the mini-chevron Nail Vinyls diagonally across the nail as shown below.
- Apply a second strip of Nail Vinyls across the first, overlapping a line segment from each strip, as shown below
- Apply the second polish to two sections of the design. Shown here using piCture pOlish Marine
- Quickly remove the Nail Vinyls before the polish starts to dry. For best results perform steps 4 and 5 on each nail individually rather than all nails at once
- Clean up the cuticles, add a top coat and enjoy!
And last, but certainly not least are my swatches and review of the two gorgeous creamy shades used in the nail art above!
Marine
A rich teal cream. This has a perfect, smooth and creamy formula. Application is great and I'm happy to report that it doesn't stain. I was a bit worried and I'm so glad that my fears were unjustified. It has a nice shine on it's own so swatches are with no top coat...

Mad Magenta
A bright magenta cream. Once again this has a perfect, smooth and creamy formula. It is really great to work with and I had no issues with application. I did use a top coat for these swatches because it wasn't super glossy on it's own although it wasn't satin or matte by any means either. This is the perfect summer color!
