Go Red for Women - National Wear Red Day!

Today I'm joining National Wear Red Day! This event aims to raise awareness of heart disease, the number one cause of death for women in the US! In addition to wearing red today, I obviously had to have a manicure to match. I was inspired by a small red dress pin which I purchased in support of the organization a long time ago. The pin that I have is the old design, but I have had for years and I'm reluctant to swap it out for the new style. I wear this pin on my lanyard to work every day...

The red in this manicure is OPI Over and Over A-Gwen. I have yet to show you full swatches of this beauty, but I can't seem to resist using it over and over again ;)

For the accent nail, I used a base of Nicole by OPI Yoga-Then-Yogurt. I created  the dress decal using Gals stamping plate GA1. I stamped the image using Pure Ice Silver Mercedes and colored it in using Over and Over A-Gwen.

For the text I used a red Sharpie. Since a topcoat often smears the Sharpie text/art and I didn't want to attempt writing with my left hand to mirror the manicure, I actually created decals for the text as well. I wrote the text backward on dry clear polish (similar to what I do for mirroring stamping). Then I flipped it when applying to the nail thereby sealing the text underneath clear polish so it wouldn't get smeared by the top coat...

Will you be wearing red today?!

Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)

  1. O - M - G, I love, love this manicure! First, I am in love with that red polish. I had it in my hands yesterday getting ready to buy it but convinced myself to put it back since I had already ordered other polishes. But I have a feeling it is coming home with me next time.

Kudoes on the dress stamp and especially on the text. So clever!
