China Glaze Hologlam! Part 2...

Whenever there is a part one, it wouldn't be wrong to assume that part two will follow closely behind. To avoid breaking such rules, I would like to show you the second half of the China Glaze Hologlam collection. This half is made up of cooler blue and gray shades in contrast to the warmer shades of the first half. I can't think of any other time when a collection had so many shades of a particular color, but I like it. Can anyone else picture an easy ombre manicure with the four blues?...

Similarly to the shades in the first half of the collection, I would classify these as holographic metallics. They have a fine holographic rainbow when under direct indoor or outdoor light. With no direct light, they appear as metallic shades. In the bottle, the holographic effect is barely visible, but it does show up on the nails.

The formula on all of these is very easy to apply and work with. They provides full coverage in 2-3 coats, depending on the polish. The darker shades require just two coats while some of the lighter ones are best at three coats. The only issue I had with these is that they don't seem to like my base coat and instantly start to drag and leave bald spots. For that reason I chose to skip the base coat with these, but it is something that I usually do very reluctantly to avoid yellowing of the nails. Another reason a base coat would have been nice is that these show absolutely every little flaw, bump, and grove in the nails and a base coat helps smooth some flaws out...

I have a hard time picking favorites from this half. It probably doesn't help that I happen to like blue polish...

Which ones stand out to you?

Thanks for looking and commenting!

  1. After the Color Club Halo Hues these just seem like such a let down to me. I am intrigued by OMG a UFO but other than that one I don't think I'll be picking up any of these. Great swatches thought! :)

  2. @Tina, I'm so glad you like it! :)

@Stacy, Thank you! These are very different than the Color Club holos. Much finer and more subtle holo, but I think the colors are very beautiful. And yes, OMG a UFO is one of my faves! Love that green shade :)
