OPI Oz The Great and Powerful Collection Swatches and Review

Today I'm excited to show you the beautiful new OPI Oz The Great and Powerful collection. This is a limited edition collection inspired by the Disney's new movie.  I have not seen the movie yet to know where the inspiration for these shades is coming from, but I don't think that matters when deciding what I think of these lacquers. The collection is made up of three sheer jelly shades, three glitters and a new Liquid Sand shade...

I Theodora You - "This adorable, sheer pink is bewitching on you."
A sheer ballet pink jelly. It has more pink to it than what my camera captured. A sweet shade that can be worn on it's own or would be perfect for french tip manis. It goes on smooth and not streaky. Perfect even at one coat. I used three coats for these swatches and you can still slightly see the nail line, but I don't mind. Swatches are with no top coat...

Lights of Emerald City - "White confetti adds city girl flair and style to nails."
A clear jelly base with square white and iridescent glitter. Application was rather tricky with this one. The base is very thick and goopy, almost gelatinous. I got more goop than glitter with each coat which made the whole manicure very thick. I will try thinning it next time I use it because I absolutely love the glitter combination! The sparkle of the iridescent glitter is a hard to capture on camera. Look at the bottle in these photos for flashes of color. The glitter seemed to like the brush more than my nails so I used two coats. Swatches are over I Theodora You with a top coat...

Glints of Glinda - "Only a good witch could turn beige from meek to chic."
A sheer nude jelly. Formula is similar to the other jellies in this collection. Flawless even at one coat. Very easy to apply and layer. This color or at least the sheerness doesn't work well with my skin tone. My nails turned out looking a bit sick which is a shame since I love sheer shades in general. Swatches are four coats with no top coat...

When Monkeys Fly! - "I’m simply bananas for this gold confetti."
A clear base with large hex gold glitter and a mix of different sized silver holographic glitter. The base on this is much better than in Lights of Emerald City. It goes on easily and I was surprised at how much gold glitter I got with each brush stroke. Swatches are one coat of glitter with a top coat over Glints of Glinda...

I'm not sure how I feel about the curliness of this glitter. It stands out slightly above the surface of the nail even with a top coat...

Don't Burst My Bubble - "Don’t wake me...I’m dreaming about puffy clouds of white."
A sheer milky white jelly with a hint of pink. This also has a great formula that applies easily and non-streaky. It would also be ideal for french tip manicures or glitter sandwiches. I'm a big fan of this shade. I used three coats and no top coat for these swatches. I have seen other people build these up to full opacity, but I suspect they use thicker coats since I was not to full opacity with any of these jellies...

Which is Witch? - "Is this silver glitter with iridescent sparkle or the other way around?"
A clear base with holographic silver glitter in hex, bar and micro-glitter. This is a stunner! It applies perfectly, sparkles like crazy and is so sweet at the same time. All I wanted to do was wiggle my fingers and stare at my nails as I was wearing this. The photos just don't do justice to the holographic effect of this. I even love the bar glitter in it since it is small and mixed with other glitter. Swatches are two coats plus top coat over Don't Burst My Bubble...

What Wizardry is This?
An olive brown Liquid Sand shade. I love this one in person because it has so much sparkle and personality. It even has a bit of a holographic shimmer which is perfect. Again it is not something that the camera can capture in a single photograph. It takes about the same time as regular polish to be dry to the touch, but at least 30+ minutes to be fully dry. To the touch it feels a bit like sand paper. I like these textured shades a lot. Swatches are with no top coat...

  2. I thought I only wanted the sheer pink and the liquid sand, but you had me at sheer white!! My favorite! Will need that one too!

  3. The liquid sand fascinates me! If you apply a top coat, does the texture even out a bit? I think I would not be able to stop feeling the texture on my nails all day. Might be distracting!
The super glitter of Which is witch is definitely my favorite of all of them.

  4. @Phoebe Moon, Thank you so much for such a compliment! I will do my best not to disappoint :)

@Angie, The sheer white is so pretty! Given how many I've seen you swatch, I think you'd love it. It does have a little tint of pink to soften it :)

@mem22, It is true, when I wore that I couldn't stop touching my nails all day. They feel a bit like sandpaper, but thankfully don't snag on things. A lot of people do top coat them, but it takes about 3 coats to really smooth it out since it just soaks it all in... :)
