China Glaze Tranzitions

I got the opportunity to swatch and play with a few of the new China Glaze Tranzitions shades, so today I want to show you those swatches and the nail art that I created with them. I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think of them...

Modify Me - "Periwinkle blue shifts to indigo blue"
I think the China Glaze color description for this one is spot on so I will leave it at that. The color is more violet tinted than what shows in the photos. Formula on this is very nice, full opacity at just one coat. I used two coats partially out of habit and partially to smooth out nail imperfections. These swatches are with no top coat to show the periwinkle blue...

A top coat effectively darkens the original color...

The real fun comes in creating nail art. For this look I applied strips of striping tape followed by China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat. A really quick and easy look without having to worry about coordinating colors or making sure the layering color is opaque enough. Ring finger is color with top coat accented with half pearls. The hardest part was resisting the urge to apply a top coat over the entire manicure...

Split Perso-nail-ity - "Dusty pink shifts to fuchsia"
This has the same pigmented smooth formula as Modify Me. Application was great and opaque in just one coat. I used two coats to smooth out any visible ridges in the nail. The swatches are with no top coat to show the dusty rose color...

Adding a top coat deepens the rose color...

For the nail art, I decided to try a sponged look. Using Fast Forward Top Coat, I sponged starting at the base of the nail and worked my way down. I did not attempt a smooth gradient, but I think it could certainly be achieved. Since the transition in color is not instant, the hardest part of sponging with a top coat is pausing periodically to allow the color to change to avoid over-sponging. This did have the neatest and easiest cleanup after sponging I've ever had to do....

Altered Reality - "Teal blue shifts to turquoise"
This has a very pigmented one coat formula as the other Tranzitions shades that I tried. I used two coats despite the full coverage at one coat. It is more of a metallic frosty shade with visible brush strokes. As the formula is slightly runny, it has a tendency to pool and I had a difficult time keeping the brush lines straight. Swatches are with no top coat to show the teal...

With a top coat the color shift is very subtle. Top coat does smooth out a bit of the brush strokes...

Since the color shift is so subtle, this was definitely the hardest color for nail art. It may have been a better choice for a smooth sponged gradient. I attempted a dotticure using Fast Forward Top Coat. The ring finger is fully covered with top coat...

This was my first time trying China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat. It is DBP, Formaldehyde and Toluene free as the rest of the polishes. It works very well and dries fast as promised. In fact it dried so fast that with the stripe manicure, I had to pull the tape off faster than normal to avoid messing everything up (as I did a bit on the index finger). The only bad thing about this top coat is the smell. I tend to be sensitive to smells and this was an instant headache for me :(

A few final thoughts... these are all very pigmented and opaque in just one coat. I think they would be perfect to stamp with and I can't wait to try them as such. Only thing to keep in mind is they will be the darker top coated version rather than bottle color...

Have you tried any Tranzitions colors? What do you think of them?

Thanks for looking and commenting!
Anutka :)

  3. I really like the effect you did with altered reality, because its such a subtle change in colour it looks like the nail is studded underneath.
