Zoya Ornate Collection

Today I'd like to share with you swatches of the Zoya Ornate collection. Before you proceed, I must warn you that the photos don't do these polishes justice. They are just ones that you have to see in person, especially the scattered holographic beauties. I took way too many photos and really tried to narrow it down to show you, but there is still a lot so I'll get to them...

Aurora
A beautiful purple packed with holographic particles. I say particles for lack of a better word. They are small and irregular in shape so I wouldn't classify them as either glitter or flakes. The holo is scattered and very obvious in real life (unlike these photos :(). I am absolutely in love with this polish and wore it for four days straight which quite a rare occurrence for me. The formula is very smooth and easy to apply. I used three thin coats, but probably could have gotten away with two...

Although I hate to use blurry photos, it does show the holo better...

Feels as though it hasn't been sunny in Seattle for a while, so when I caught a glimpse of sun while driving, I had to pull over and snap a few photos. Yeah, I was that crazy lady that pulls over on the side of the road to take photos of her nails. This is in late afternoon, close to sunset...

In the shade you can still see the holo outdoors. Click to zoom in to see it better...

Color Name/Number: Aurora, ZP646
Number of coats: 3
Top Coat: No

Storm
Is a black base with the same particles as in Aurora. The holo is slightly less obvious, but still very much present under both indoor and outdoor light. It is absolutely gorgeous. I love holo, but hate photographing it because the photos never seem to capture the true beauty. This was two easy coats. The formula is wonderful and easy to work with...

This is in partial sun through the clouds....

Blaze
A cranberry red jelly with scattered holo particles. This has the least amount of holo particles out of the three holo polishes in the collection. It has a lot of depth to it as you can see the particles through the jelly base. It is absolutely gorgeous. Two easy coats for this one. Formula again is wonderful...

We got a teeny tiny sun break as I was typing this post up, so I grabbed my swatch sticks and ran outside to try an capture the holo. This is just a quick shot to show the relative holoness (yes, making up words as I go)....

Electra (over Blaze)
Silver and holographic bar glitter in a clear base. The glitter spreads evenly and is easy to apply. It is very very sparkly with the holo flashing among the silver. I'm not the biggest fan of bar glitter so this is my least favorite among them. I always end up with a few bars of glitter hanging off the edge of my nail that turn into dangerous weapons ready to scratch at any minute. This is one coat over Blaze...

Ziv
A champagne gold foil with gold flakes. I like these foil metallic shades so this is a winner for me. It works for stamping, although the larger flakes just get scraped off in the process, so it is a waste to use this for stamping. Very nice formula with two coats for full coverage...

Logan
An emerald green with gold flecks. This may be my second favorite after Aurora... and Storm... OK so maybe third favorite. I love the combination of gold flecks in just about any shade and they are spectacular in this green. It flows together very smoothly with a great formula and two coats for full coverage...

I'm sad that I couldn't capture the holo beauties that well, but I know this is not the last time I'll be wearing them so I will update you with fresh swatches if I manage to capture the holo!

Did any of these stand out to you?

Thanks for looking!
Anutka :)

  3. Have you tired taking photos of your nails under water? I can't remember if you have, but if not I believe it really helps capture glitter manis!

  7. Wow, 4 days with Aurora? Honestly, I was surprised I didn't apply it again after wearing it for a day. I'm sure before the year is over, I will wear it again!
