Sinful Colors Unicorn with Essence Just In Case

I first got introduced to nail polish blogs when I stumbled upon lacquerized. Sadly, she is no longer blogging, but that is a whole other story. I fell in love with the yellow that is on her profile picture and this Sinful Colors Unicorn reminded me of that. I just had to try it! It is a light pastel yellow that kind of looks "dirty." It is not as bright and in your face as some yellows can be.

It required three coats to get an even color as application was less than perfect with streaking and dragging. Also, even with a base coat my nails were badly stained yellow after taking this off :(

It looked like sunshine whenever I looked at my hands. Outside, it was overcast and hard to photograph the color accurately. It is not quite this bright in real life...

It did lend itself perfectly to being stamped with a giraffe pattern using Essence Just In Case. My bf kept saying "turtle" and I kept saying "giraffe" back and forth, but in either case, isn't it adorable?

I used Bundle Monster plate BM-215 for the stamping!

  1. Yellows are bad for staining nails I guess.. Mine got stained with a Revlon yellow polish, cant remember the name. Thankfully I had done a colorful mani so I had only applied small sections of yellow...
Your mani loooks great though... sorry to hear your nails are stained...

  2. Yes! It's an awesome nail polish color and after wearing it once I threw it away because it stained my nails so badly. (Usually I put unwanteds into a little bag for friends.) I mean they're still stained after using it 1 1/2 months ago and I've even used those denture cleansing tablets which normally remove all stains for me. Sigh!

Your giraffe mani is adorable!! That's so amazing! I love seeing your ideas.

  3. I absolutely love this yellow. It's the only yellow that looks good on me so far. It does have it's issues like you said. This also stained my nails and was pain to apply! I love the giraffe look!

  4. Aww sucks that your nails got stained! I started applying 2 coats of base coat now since my first staining incident and my stains are about halfway grown out. The stamping looks great anyway, and I would totally be the one to say it looks like a giraffe. :)

  5. Maybe with another stamp color it would look like a turtle, but this definitely looks like Giraffe to me,and very pretty!

  6. Thanks everyone! I'm so glad you liked the color an pattern :)

I love this color too, but hate the staining...

@DesertNails, isn't it sad to throw away such a pretty color? I'm hanging on to mine for now, but I know exactly where you are coming from. Also, I will have to try denture tabs! Have never thought of that, but it makes perfect sense! :)

@Poetic Realist, I should try 2 coats of base next time I try a color like this...

    Thanks everyone!!

  8. We vote 'giraffe.' Gorgeous, as always! Not really a yellow fan, so would not have thought to do this ourselves. Love it though.
